History of D.A.V Management, New Delhi
Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, a revered spiritual luminary and renowned social reformer of the 19th century, dedicated his life to the revival of Vedic ideals and the promotion of nationalism. Recognizing education as the key to achieving these goals, he inspired his followers to establish educational institutions in his memory after his passing. Thus, in 1885, the DAV College Trust and Management Society laid the foundation of DAV School in Lahore, which eventually flourished under the exceptional leadership of Mahatma Hans Raj, evolving into DAV College, Lahore.
The DAV College Managing Committee, based in New Delhi, stands as the second-largest educational provider in the country after the government itself. With a proud history spanning 138 years, this esteemed committee has consistently upheld the principles of imparting quality education. Guided by the visionary ideals and missionary zeal of its founding father, it has made significant contributions to the educational landscape of India. Leading this educational revolution is the esteemed Padamshri, Arya Rattan Dr. Punamsuri, whose unwavering commitment and fervor have propelled the DAV Institutions to new heights. Complementing his efforts is Shri Ajay Suri, the General Secretary, who tirelessly strives to establish DAV institutions as the epitome of excellence in education. Additionally, the invaluable guidance of Shri Shiv Raman Gaur, IAS(R), the Director of Higher Education, has played a pivotal role in ensuring the effective and purposeful functioning of the college.
DAV Centenary College, Kotkhai, serves as a significant link in the chain of DAV institutions dedicated to the noble cause of education and social upliftment in our nation. Established in 1985, the college aims to provide quality education to students from rural areas, particularly the apple belt region, which was lacking in educational opportunities. The Government of Himachal Pradesh approached DAV during their centenary year, recognizing their commitment to education, and requested the establishment of an educational institution in this rural area. In response, DAV embraced the cause of education in Himachal Pradesh and began serving the youth of the region.
The primary objective of DAV Centenary College, Kotkhai, is to provide value-based education. University Grants Commission support: Recognizing our dedication to providing a nurturing educational experience, we have received support from the University Grants Commission. Under the esteemed 2 (f) and 12 (b) schemes of the UGC Act, we have received developmental assistance, affirming our commitment to excellence. Additionally, our re-accreditation by the NAAC in Bangalore in 2021-22 further solidifies are standing as a reputable institution, with accreditation valid until 22.03.2027.
State government support: Guided by the unwavering support of the Himachal Pradesh Government's 95% Grant-in-Aid Scheme, our Arts and Commerce faculties flourish, enabling us to provide quality education to students from diverse backgrounds.
